The wonders of the Internet

Kevin Wilson beat me to posting about it, but Mandy and I met him for lunch yesterday. It was a great time. After the lunch Mandy and I had a great conversation about how the Internet really does make the world quite small. It’s absolutely amazing to see how easy it is to meet new people. Oddly enough, it’s becoming quite normal for me to end up outside a restaurant looking around for someone I’ve never met before (but that I know quite well through blogs and the like). Normally I have no idea what this person looks like, and we normally meet up as we both carry cellphones pressed to our respective ears.

Meeting Kevin was a fun time, I had no idea he was so close geographically. So we had a chance to relax, eat, and chat a bit. I hope we have the opportunity to do something similar in the future. It’s nice to be able to sit down and chat with someone who isn’t either appalled or flabbergasted by the idea of a youth pastor knowing Hebrew, and knowing it well. After all, when you eat with someone who knows who Pharaoh Shoshenq I was, you know you are among friends.

  1. He’s the guy from the Shoshenq Redemption, right? The one with the Egyptian inmate who broke out of captivity by digging through a wall, and into a sewer line?

Or was that Shawshank? Never can remember…

  2. Hey Calvin

The internet sure does connect people in weird ways. This is Adam Couturier from GCTS. I was looking at another site (the post that this one references) and I thought it sounded like you. Anyways, I hope you and Mandy have a great Christmas.

If you get more check out my blog (http://parkersmood.wordpress.com/)
