Excellent thoughts on Sermons
I’m still alive, in case anyone is wondering. I wanted to link to some really excellent thoughts on sermons over at Wezlo’s blog. Well worth spending a few minutes reading.
Of course, I should add the caveat that I wouldn’t mind getting rid of sermons all together, but since that isn’t going to happen…
Oh Calvin, after teaching one of our Adult Sunday School classes 2 weeks ago – a class with people who have been meeting together for 40 years – I can honestly say that dropping the sermon isn’t going to help the problems in most congregations. Of course, in most congregations the sermons are helping the problems either!
I agree that it probably won’t help any problems…but I still wouldn’t mind getting rid of sermons. Alas!
