A job!

More than, actually. Immanuel Baptist Church in Ipswich has offered me the position of youth pastor. After several days spent praying and really turning things over in my mind I have decided to accept.

This is a huge blessing in a number of ways. First, it provides Mandy and I with the income we need to pay the bills. There won’t be a whole lot of extra sitting around. Things will be tight, but the bills will be paid with enough left over to eat more than pasta every night. That alone is incredible. Beyond that, the church seems like it will be a good fit for us. Hearing some of the likes and dislikes of the students in the youth ministry has really got Mandy and I excited, I think we’ll mesh well. The church is located right on the main drag in Ipswich, and it’s pretty tiny. I’ve had to deal with some baggage that I didn’t even know I had from a “big church” perspective.

From everything I can gather I think this church will be a good fit for Mandy and I, and a place where God can bring us further along in our journey with him. We’re both extremely excited. Having said all that – no church is perfect and I’m sure there will be times of frustration and pain ahead. At least I’m not walking into it blind.
