A day or two ago I posted on the idea of storying and the Bible. Scot has now made a post about the importance of people knowing the church’s story, and I couldn’t agree more. It is well work checking out. I’d add that in addition to needing church historians who write church history for lay people, we need Biblical scholars who make scholarship accessible to the masses.

The big problem here is that biblical scholars need to publish to the academy to get jobs, promotions, tenure, etc.
If done well, a book to the masses can sometimes make you money, but it usually won’t get you an endowed chair.
Certainly, so publish to both.
